An Interactive 5-Day Training Course
The Next Generation of Infrastructure
Course Overview
Infrastructure is a facility or construction created on the ground that is not physically distinct from other properties such as homes, stores, and industries. It provides users with the same goods and services as these facilities. Transport is provided by roads, while water is provided by water systems. It is referred to the commodities and services that infrastructure offers as infrastructure services.
Infrastructure and its services have unique traits that no other property offers. Infrastructure services are generally in high demand and difficult to replace due to I high demand. For instance, water supplied through a water distribution system is vital.
This training course will highlight:
- Shared use: Individual ownership and operation of infrastructure is expensive and technically challenging. Thus, it must be shared by society. For instance, we are compelled to share the water facility source and water main supply pipes.
- Nonrivalry: Unlike regular goods and services, infrastructure services are not exclusive; as long as there is no congestion, numerous people can use it simultaneously without competition.
- Non excludability: In infrastructure such as regular highways, it is technically difficult to charge only users of the service, such as vehicles or walkers.
- With infrastructure services, the fixed costs, such as construction costs, are substantially more than the variable costs, which rely on the number of service customers.
- Regional monopoly: Typically speaking, infrastructure services have a dominant position in a region due to their massive investment and operation expenses, as well as the fact that they are employed by the community as a whole.
